3M EC-4 Cold Shrink End Cap is a black EPDM rubber sleeve in the EC-Series designed to terminate and seal cables and other cylindrical conductors with diameters from 45.5 mm to 84.3 mm (1.79 in to 3.32 in). The close-ended sleeve ships factory-expanded on a removable core and is installed without heat, tapes, or mastics by sliding it over the prepared end and pulling out the core, after which the rubber contracts to form a tight, moisture-resistant seal. EC-4 is part of a size family that includes EC-1 through EC-4 and is commonly sold in region-specific pack counts (for example, 10 per case in the United States; other regions offer bulk packs such as 40 per case). This end cap is intended for low-voltage cable assemblies in electrical installations, providing environmental protection at terminations while allowing re-entry if access is required in the future.
