ABB REA101-AAA Motor Protection Relay

ABB REA101-AAA Arc Protection Relay is the main module of ABB’s REA arc-fault protection system, designed to detect and rapidly interrupt arc events in switchgear and power distribution equipment. It can operate as a stand-alone device or be combined with extension modules REA103, REA105, and REA107 to provide multi-channel protection, with a single heavy-duty TRIP3 output available for circuit-breaker failure protection (CBFP) or alarm signaling. If both outputs are used, the delay time is the same for both, but the pickup time of the electromechanical output relay (5–15 ms) must be added to the TRIP3 signal for proper coordination. Power is supplied from auxiliary sources: variants cover 110–240 V AC or 110–250 V DC, with REA101-AAAa and REA101-AAAGa serving the 110–240 V AC family (the AAAGa variant includes optolink connectors for glass fiber), and REA101-CAAa/CAAGa covering 24–60 V DC. As the arc protection main module, REA101-AAA is designed to integrate with ABB’s arc-protection ecosystem, enabling scalable protection for complex switchgear configurations via its compatible extension units.
