ABB rea101-caa Arc Protection Relay

ABB REA101-CAA Arc Protection Relay is the main module of ABB’s REA arc protection system, designed to guard switchgear against arc incidents and trigger protective actions when an arc is detected. The REA101-CAA variant is powered from 110–250 V DC and ships with optolink connectors for glass‑fiber communication, enabling fast signaling to extension units. It can operate as a standalone unit or be used with extension modules REA103, REA105, or REA107 to expand sensing and outputs, and it provides two high‑speed outputs plus a heavy‑duty TRIP3 output for circuit‑breaker protection or CBFP. Arc detection uses a combination of optical sensors and current measurement to identify arc events quickly, forming part of ABB’s arc fault protection approach.
