Allen-Bradley 160-BMA2 Dynamic Brake Module
Allen-Bradley 160-BMA2 Dynamic Brake Module
Description:
The Allen-Bradley 160-BMA2 Dynamic Brake Module is a 200-240 V dynamic braking accessory designed for the 160-series drive family, providing 1.5-2.2 kW (2-3 HP) of braking capacity to help achieve faster, more controlled deceleration. It works by dissipating braking energy through external braking resistance, enabling stronger stopping torque when paired with the appropriate brake resistor kits in the 160-series ecosystem. This module carries an IP20 enclosure rating for typical industrial environments and is intended to integrate with the 160-series drives to extend braking performance without overloading the drive’s DC link during dynamic stops. When used with compatible braking resistor kits (such as 160-FRK2 or 160-FRK3) and the corresponding 160-series components, the 160-BMA2 supports shorter stop times and smoother deceleration for motors in the 1.5-2.2 kW range. Manufactured by Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation), the 160-BMA2 is part of the lineage of dynamic braking modules documented for the 160 Series and referenced in Rockwell literature and migration guides.
