Allen-Bradley 1609-EXBAT Expandable Battery Pack

Allen-Bradley 1609-EXBAT Expandable Battery Pack is an external battery unit designed to extend the runtime of the 1609 Industrial Uninterruptible Power Supply by adding a 36V battery source. The EXBAT housing accommodates six 12V batteries (not included) and is intended for mounting on a heavy-duty DIN rail or with the optional 1609-BRK bracket for panel or floor installations. When used with the 1609-D UPS, the EXBAT connects to the UPS via three 10 AWG wires from its terminals to the UPS terminals marked EXTERNAL BATT PACK (36V), delivering a scalable power reserve for critical PLC or control cabinet applications. For safety, an emergency disconnecting device must be provided between the UPS and the battery pack, and the DC output circuit must be protected per applicable electrical codes. The EXBAT is marketed as an external battery housing that integrates with Rockwell Automation’s 1609 UPS family, offering a practical path to longer backup times without replacing the main UPS unit.
