Allen-Bradley 1691-N3 Time Surge Protector
Allen-Bradley 1691-N3 Time Surge Protector
Description:
The Allen-Bradley 1691-N3 Time Surge Protector is a compact RC snubber designed to suppress transient spikes in DC and AC control circuits by providing a controlled path for inductive surge energy and reducing arcing across switching devices. The Series C variant is rated for 120 VAC and up to 150 VDC maximum and employs a 1 µF (1 MFD) capacitor in series with a 220-ohm resistor to shape surges and dampen dv/dt across inductive loads. It features two double blade terminals (0.110" x 0.032") for straightforward wiring in panels or control cabinets. Commonly wired across relay coils or contactors, the time surge protector helps protect contacts from turn-off transients, extends component life, and reduces electrical noise in automation circuits. This Allen-Bradley part is used within 1691-series control configurations where compact, passive snubbing is required to maintain reliable operation of relays and other switching devices in low- to mid-power applications. Ensure compatibility with your specific control panel and coil rating when selecting this protection device; verify that the 1691-N3's 120 VAC / 150 VDC max limits match your system's supply and inductive load characteristics.
