The Allen-Bradley 1734-232ASC is a POINT I/O RS-232 ASCII interface module that lets a ControlLogix or CompactLogix PLC exchange ASCII strings with serial devices by placing it in a POINT I/O rack. Powered from 24V DC (nominal) with a supply range of 10–28.8V DC and a current draw of about 15 mA at 24V, it supports ASCII transmissions up to 128 bytes per transaction. This module is designed to work with Rockwell adapters such as the 1734-ADN (DeviceNet) or 1734-AENT (EtherNet/IP) to connect to serial devices like barcode scanners or printers, enabling serial data to be mapped to PLC logic.
