The Allen-Bradley 1734-OB8E POINT I/O 8-channel DC output module provides eight 24 VDC sourcing outputs in a compact POINT I/O block, designed for open-style mounting on a POINT I/O backplane. Each channel can source up to 1.0 A with a module-wide limit of 3.0 A, and the module uses electronic protection on each output for fault tolerance. The device operates from a 24 VDC nominal supply (10 to 28.8 V range) and draws about 32 mA from the backplane while dissipating up to 2 W (roughly 6.8 BTU/hr). Field wiring supports 14–22 AWG copper (solid or stranded) rated at 75 °C or higher. In use, the OB8E delivers fast switching (OFF→ON and ON→OFF each in ≤0.1 ms) with an ON-state voltage drop around 0.2 V and an OFF-state leakage up to 0.5 mA per channel, and it provides a POINTBUS current of 75 mA maximum at 5 V for the module logic. The module features eight field-side yellow output-status LEDs, eight red fault LEDs, and two green/red module/network status indicators to aid diagnostics. Its exposed, open-style enclosure is compatible with standard POINT I/O configurations, and the package measures 2.21 in (56.0 mm) high by 0.47 in (12.0 mm) wide by 2.97 in (75.5 mm) long, weighing about 1.25 oz (35 g). The OB8E is rated for harsh industrial environments, with operating temperatures from -20 to 55 °C, storage from -40 to 85 °C, and 5–95% noncondensing humidity, plus rugged shock and vibration specs, and it carries appropriate safety and EMC certifications for UL/CSA, ATEX, and CE as part of the POINT I/O Protected Output family.
