Allen-Bradley 1746-BAS Programmable Logic Controller Module
Allen-Bradley 1746-BAS Programmable Logic Controller Module
Description:
The Allen-Bradley 1746-BAS is a SLC 500 BASIC language module that plugs into a 1746 backplane slot to run user-developed BASIC programs within an SLC-500 controller. It executes an Intel BASIC-52-derived interpreter on an 8052-compatible microcontroller and presents itself to the chassis backplane as a special-function module with discrete image bits and integer file windows, enabling compact, embedded programming within the PLC system. The 1746-BAS supports serial communication for programming and peripheral interfacing and is documented in Rockwell Automation’s SLC 500 BASIC User Manual (catalog numbers 1746-BAS and 1746-BAS-T). A higher-speed variant, the 1746-BAS-T, is available for faster ASCII parsing and polling when cycle time matters.
