Allen-Bradley 1746-HSCE2 Multi-Channel High Speed Counter Module
Allen-Bradley 1746-HSCE2 Multi-Channel High Speed Counter Module
Description:
The Allen-Bradley 1746-HSCE2 Multi-Channel High Speed Counter Module is an intelligent counter interface for the SLC 500 family that processes high-speed counting inputs on its own microprocessor, allowing up to four independent counters to operate without burdening the central processor. Each counter can count to +/- 8,388,607 and supports either ring or linear counting, with a rate (pulse input) capability up to +/- 1 MHz, and configurable gate/preset behavior to preset or capture values as counting proceeds. The module accepts multiple input configurations—A, B, and Z channels can be wired as differential line drivers or single-ended pulses, enabling either quadrature or single-ended counting for a flexible mix of encoders, flowmeters, or proximity sensors—with three operating modes (Range, Rate, Sequencer) to tailor performance while counting. It is compatible with the SLC 500 system and can be installed in a remote chassis via the SLC Remote I/O Adapter, though the 1747-ASB remote adapter is not compatible with the 1746-HSCE family.
