Allen-Bradley 1746-HSTP1 Stepper Control Module
Allen-Bradley 1746-HSTP1 Stepper Control Module
Description:
The Allen-Bradley 1746-HSTP1 Stepper Control Module is a single-axis motion controller for the SLC 500 family that provides open-loop control by generating step and direction pulses to drive a stepper motor, occupying one backplane slot and compatible with standard SLC 500 processors. It supports up to 250 kHz pulse train output for high-speed positioning, with inputs including differential 5V encoder power and single-ended 12–24V auxiliary power, and it includes digital outputs to drive a translator. The module draws backplane current of about 200 mA at 5V and 90 mA at 24V, and it features a 4 ms update time, making it well-suited for one-axis motion control in automation, packaging, or basic tooling applications that require precise stepper motion. As an open-loop controller, there is no feedback from the motor to correct position, so accuracy relies on correct setup and known motor characteristics.
