Allen-Bradley 1746-IB16 USNT Digital Input Module
Allen-Bradley 1746-IB16 USNT Digital Input Module
Description:
The Allen-Bradley 1746-IB16 is a 16-channel digital input module for the SLC 500 backplane that senses 24V DC field signals as sinking inputs. Designed for industrial control, each of the 16 channels accepts 24V DC logic signals from devices such as pushbuttons and proximity switches and presents a clean, debounced input to the controller. The module operates on a nominal 24V DC supply with a stated input voltage range typically 10–30V DC and is configured for sinking wiring, meaning the device provides the current path to ground. It draws backplane power from the 5V backplane as part of its internal circuitry, with a backplane current requirement of about 50 mA at 5V, enabling efficient power budgeting in compact SLC 500 racks. With 16 discrete inputs, the IB16 simplifies wiring by grouping all inputs on a single card and supports standard SLC 500 I/O addressing and programming. The 1746-IB16 is a legacy Allen-Bradley module that remains compatible with 1746-series chassis and backplane, offering straightforward integration for running digital logic and simple sensing applications in automation lines.
