Description:
The Allen-Bradley 1746-OA8 is an eight-point AC output module for the SLC 500 family, providing eight independently controlled outputs to switch 85–265 VAC loads (47–63 Hz) from a single 1746 I/O rack. Outputs are arranged in four-point commons (two commons total) and use triac-based switching that turns on at any point in the AC cycle and turns off at the next zero-cross, enabling reliable control of line-powered devices. Key ratings include a backplane current draw of 0.185 A at 5 V DC, a maximum continuous current per output of 1.0 A at 30°C (0.5 A at 60°C), and a maximum module current of 8.0 A at 30°C (4.0 A at 60°C). Surge capability is 10 A per point for 25 ms. This module is designed to interface with industrial automation systems where eight discrete AC loads need to be switched from a single SLC 500 rack, enabling straightforward integration with existing Allen-Bradley control architectures.
