Description:

Allen-Bradley 1746-OA8 is an eight-point AC output module for the SLC 500 family that uses triac switching to control line-voltage loads. It operates from a 100–240 VAC supply and provides eight independently controlled TRIAC outputs on a single module designed to plug into a 1746 backplane in an SLC 500 chassis. The module is rated for up to 8.0 A continuous current per module at 30°C (86°F), with outputs designed to turn on at any point in the AC cycle and turn off at the next zero-cross, enabling straightforward on/off control of connected devices. This makes it suitable for switching common AC loads such as lighting, heating elements, and other resistive or mildly inductive loads under PLC control. The 1746-OA8 follows the SLC 500 modular I/O architecture, sharing wiring conventions and backplane interfaces with other discrete I/O modules in the series, and it is intended for use in legacy AB control panels where eight discrete AC outputs are required in a compact, single-slot footprint.
