Allen-Bradley 1746-OB32 DC Output Module

The Allen-Bradley 1746-OB32 is a SLC 500 32-channel DC output module (sourcing) for Allen-Bradley’s 1746 backplane, delivering high-density digital DC outputs for the PLC system. It provides 32 DC outputs that source current from a 5–50 V DC supply to drive loads such as relays, solenoids, contactors, and indication devices, with a per-channel rating of 0.25 A and a total module capability of 8 A. The backplane current draw is about 190 mA at 5 V, and the module is designed for open-style chassis installations, fitting typical SLC 500 configurations. Typical switching performance is a step response of roughly 60 milliseconds to turn on, and around 2.5 milliseconds to turn off, which supports moderately fast DC load control. The 5–50 V DC operating range and 32-channel density make the OB32 a compact solution for distributing DC control signals directly from the PLC, while keeping the wiring footprint lower and reducing the number of separate I/O modules required.
