Allen-Bradley 1746-OG16 SLC 500 Output Module
Allen-Bradley 1746-OG16 SLC 500 Output Module
Description:
The Allen-Bradley 1746-OG16 is a 16-point TTL output module for the SLC 500 family, delivering sixteen sinking 5V DC outputs (Low = True) designed to drive 5V logic loads. It operates from a 5V reference with an acceptable range of 4.5 to 5.5V and is mounted in an SLC 500 I/O rack, sharing the backplane with other discrete I/O modules. Each output point can continuously sink up to 24 mA, enabling direct control of modest TTL loads such as optocouplers or LED indicators with appropriate current-limiting resistors; the module’s outputs are specified as TTL-level and referenced to a +5V supply for load connections. Timing characteristics for resistive loads include a maximum on-delay of 0.25 ms and an off-delay of 0.50 ms, contributing to fast, predictable signaling in control circuits. As part of Rockwell Automation’s 1746 series, the 1746-OG16 provides a legacy 5V logic control option within SLC 500 systems, offering a compact, plug-in solution for legacy automation architectures that require 5V TTL output control from an Allen-Bradley PLC.
