Allen-Bradley 1746-OW16 16-Channel Relay Output Module

Allen-Bradley 1746-OW16 is a SLC 500 16-channel relay output module that provides two banks of eight normally open (NO) relay contacts for discrete control of AC or DC loads. It supports a wide operating range of 5-265 VAC or 5-125 VDC, enabling common automation loads without additional front-end drivers. Each channel can switch up to 1.5 A at 120 VAC or 1.2 A at 24 VDC, making it suitable for solenoids, relays, indicators, and other small actuators within those limits. The module draws about 170–180 mA from the backplane and groups outputs as eight-contact sections sharing a common, simplifying wiring on SLC 500 chassis. When commanded by a ladder instruction, the corresponding contact closes; de-energizing returns it to the open state. The 1746-OW16 is designed specifically for use with Allen-Bradley SLC 500 controllers and compatible I/O backplanes, offering 16 discrete relay outputs in a compact 1-slot form factor. With a step response of roughly 60 ms when energizing and about 2.5 ms when releasing, it provides reliable switching for automation tasks that require relay-level isolation and straightforward wiring, without resorting to solid-state switches.
