Description:

The Allen-Bradley 1746-P5 SLC 500 power supply is a modular DC source designed to power the SLC 500 modular chassis, delivering regulated power to the backplane and the CPU/I/O modules. It accepts a DC input of 90–146 V and provides a typical line power of 85 VA with a maximum inrush current of 20 A, ensuring quick and reliable startup in industrial environments. Inside, it furnishes 5 A at 5 V DC and 0.96 A at 24 V DC, while offering 24 V DC user-power capacity up to 200 mA with a usable 24 V DC input range of 18–30 V. The unit is isolated from the power source with up to 1800 V AC RMS insulation for 1 s, supporting robust protection in noisy factory settings. CPU hold-up times vary with operating conditions: about 20 ms at full load (3000 ms no load) for 12 V DC input and about 5 ms at full load (1500 ms no load) for 24 V DC input, helping maintain processor operation during transient events. Dimensions are 140 x 85 x 140 mm (5.5 x 3.35 x 5.7 in) with a weight around 0.4 kg (0.8 lb), making it a compact fit for standard SLC 500 racks. Commonly used to power the SLC 500 modular backplane in industrial control panels, the 1746-P5 is part of the 1746-P1 through P7 family and provides the essential 5 V and 24 V rails required by legacy Allen-Bradley PLC configurations.
