Allen-Bradley 1747-ASB Remote I/O Adapter Module
Allen-Bradley 1747-ASB Remote I/O Adapter Module
Description:
The Allen-Bradley 1747-ASB Remote I/O Adapter Module is a SLC-500 Remote I/O gateway that sits in a remote I/O chassis to map and proxy the I/O image between the SLC processor’s scanner and the I/O modules located in the remote rack and any expansion chassis. Acting as an adapter (slave) on the RIO link, the 1747-ASB coordinates data transfer so inputs and outputs appear in the processor's I/O image as if they were local. It supports selectable Remote I/O speeds up to 230 kbit/s, providing flexible timing for different installations. Backplane current at 5V is around 375 mA, reflecting its power draw from the rack backplane. The module maps the I/O image of all modules in its remote chassis and any connected remote expansion chassis, enabling centralized control of distant equipment. Typical applications include expanding SLC-500 I/O across long distances or multiple panels, where the 1747-ASB remote adapter serves as the interface between the controller and remote I/O modules in a dedicated remote rack.
