Description:

Allen-Bradley 1747-ASB Remote I/O Adapter Module is a single-slot SLC 500 device that serves as the Remote I/O interface for distributing I/O across remote racks. It functions as a remote I/O adapter on the RIO link, mapping the image of the I/O modules in its remote chassis directly into the processor image of the local SLC/PLC. This allows a central controller to monitor and control I/O located in remote expansion racks as if they were part of the local backplane. The 1747-ASB is designed as a slave on the RIO network, with the remote chassis it connects to acting as an expansion of the local system. The module draws power from a 5 V backplane and specifies a backplane current of 375 mA. It supports standard Remote I/O communication within the SLC 500 ecosystem, enabling reliable, synchronized I/O updates across distributed modules. Common applications include expanding a PLC’s I/O footprint without adding more CPU resources, integrating remote sensors and actuators located in distant panels, and enabling centralized programming and diagnostics for multi-rack automation setups. The 1747-ASB is part of Rockwell Automation’s SLC 500 Remote I/O family, intended for use with SLC controllers and compatible I/O modules, providing a compact, single-slot solution for creating scalable, distributed control architectures.
