The Allen-Bradley 1746-NI8 SLC 500 Analog Input Module delivers eight single-ended analog inputs for the SLC 500 family, enabling direct connection of sensors and transducers to a PLC in a compact 8‑point card. Each channel is configurable for multiple input ranges, including 0–5 V, 0–10 V, ±10 V, 0–20 mA, and 4–20 mA, with a 16‑bit analog-to-digital converter per channel for high-resolution readings. The module updates data at about 0.75 ms per enabled channel and performs continuous autocalibration to maintain accuracy over time, while open-circuit conditions are detected within a single scan. Isolation is rated to withstand up to 500 V AC (with higher DC tests cited in datasheets), protecting the backplane and controller. Power is supplied from the SLC 500 backplane, with backplane current around 200 mA at 5 V and 100 mA at 24 V, corresponding to roughly 3.4 W maximum for the card. Designed for use in process monitoring and instrumentation applications, the NI8 supports integration with RSLogix 500 software and fits standard SLC 500 racks, providing eight concurrent measurements from analog sensors in a legacy control architecture.
