Allen-Bradley 1747-PIC PC Interface Converter
Description:
The Allen-Bradley 1747-PIC is a dedicated RS-232 to DH-485 interface converter designed to connect a PC to Rockwell’s SLC 500 controllers. It provides a bridge between a personal computer’s RS-232 serial port and the SLC 500 DH-485 network, enabling programming, monitoring, and data exchange with SLC 5/01, 5/02, and 5/03 processors.
On the PC side, the 1747-PIC uses RS-232 signaling, handling TXD, RXD, RTS, and DTR with a ground reference. A 9-pin to 25-pin adapter is used to match the host serial port, and the unit can draw power from the DH-485 link via the controller—no separate power supply is required. On the SLC 500 side, it presents a DH-485–compatible RS-485 interface for half‑duplex communication on the PLC network. Typical installations reference Rockwell cables for PC-to-PLC connections, including options such as 1747-C13 or 1747-CP3 to link the processor’s channel to the PC.
