Description:

Allen-Bradley 1747-SN Remote I/O Scanner Module is a SLC 500 family device that serves as the Remote I/O (RIO) scanner, enabling an SLC processor to communicate with remote I/O racks over the RIO link. Catalog Number 1747-SN is designed to work with SLC 5/02, 5/03, 5/04, and 5/05 controllers and interfaces with remote I/O devices, including I/O racks, operator terminals, gateways, and other PLCs that support the RIO protocol. The module uses a G-file based addressing scheme to map I/O into the controller’s image, facilitating straightforward integration of distributed I/O into ladder logic. A 1/2 watt terminating resistor is required across line 1 and line 2 at each end of the RIO link, and is included with the module, ensuring proper line termination for reliable communication. In typical installations, the 1747-SN is mounted in the SLC rack and connected to one or more remote I/O racks to centralize control and monitoring of sensors and actuators across the plant floor, supporting common industrial uses such as digital input acquisition from field devices and remote control of actuators, with compatibility for operator interfaces like PanelView terminals and other RIO-capable devices. The 1747-SN is part of Allen-Bradley’s Remote I/O solution for SLC 500 systems, offering a dedicated path for distributed I/O data exchange that complements onboard PLC I/O and other network options.
