Description:

The Allen-Bradley 1747-SN Remote I/O Scanner Module is a single-slot master for the SLC 500 Remote I/O network. It communicates between an SLC processor (SLC 5/02 or later) and remotely located I/O devices via the Remote I/O (RIO) link, enabling the processor to read inputs and drive outputs across distributed modules. The scanner uses two data files, M0 and M1, each 32 words in size (M0_SIZE 32, M1_SIZE 32), with 32 discrete input words (SCAN_IN) and 32 discrete output words (SCAN_OUT) on the RIO link, letting configured adapters map to the processor data tables. A 1/2-watt terminating resistor, included with the module, must be installed across line 1 and line 2 at both ends of the RIO link (scanner and last physical device) to terminate the network properly. Note that Series A scanners do not support block transfer. The 1747-SN is designed to reside in an AB SLC 500 chassis and works with compatible Remote I/O adapters to scale I/O across distant devices such as operator interfaces, gateways, and additional PLCs in legacy control systems.
