Allen-Bradley 1747-SN Remote IO Scanner Module
Allen-Bradley 1747-SN Remote IO Scanner Module
Description:
The Allen-Bradley 1747-SN Remote I/O Scanner Module is the SLC 500 system’s Remote I/O scanner that links an SLC processor to remotely located I/O devices over the legacy Remote I/O (RIO) network. It communicates with remote adapters and I/O chassis via the RIO link, coordinating data exchange between the central controller and distributed input and output modules. The 1747-SN is compatible with SLC 5/02 through 5/05 processors and is designed to mount in a standard SLC 500 rack along with other RIO-enabled modules. In typical automation setups, it enables centralized programming and monitoring of distributed equipment—sensors, switches, actuators, and other field devices—without direct wiring back to the processor for every I/O point. For network configurations, you may pair the scanner with compatible remote adapters such as the 1747-ASB to connect a variety of remote I/O blocks on the same RIO network, making it a foundational component in legacy Allen-Bradley distributed control architectures.
