Description:

The Allen-Bradley 1756-DNB DeviceNet Bridge/Scanner Module for ControlLogix provides a single DeviceNet master port to connect DeviceNet devices to a Rockwell Automation ControlLogix chassis. It uses one DeviceNet open-style connector (5-pin or 10-pin) and supports DeviceNet data rates of 125, 250, or 500 Kbps with a maximum of 64 nodes on the network. The module occupies one backplane slot (chassis-based, any slot) and draws about 400 mA from 5.1 V and 60 mA from 24 V for the DeviceNet side, with a measured power dissipation of around 3.5 W; DeviceNet power must be supplied from a source compliant with SELV/PELV to meet CE requirements. Electrical isolation between the DeviceNet network and the backplane is 50 V continuous, and the module is designed for use with a wide range of ControlLogix controllers (all Logix5000 controllers such as 1756-L55, L6x, L7x, L8x). Configuration is performed with RSNetWorx for DeviceNet, and Studio 5000 support is available for Add-On Profiles/Generic Device integration. The 1756-DNB carries ODVA conformance and safety listings (UL Listed, cULus, CE), reflecting its intended use in industrial DeviceNet networks. In operation, it functions as the DeviceNet master, bridging the DeviceNet field devices to the ControlLogix processor and enabling data exchange, configuration, and explicit messaging as part of standard DeviceNet networking.
