Description:

The Allen-Bradley 1756-DNB DeviceNet Communication Module is a ControlLogix bridge/scanner that adds a single DeviceNet interface to a 1756 backplane, enabling a ControlLogix CPU to master a DeviceNet network of up to 64 nodes. It uses one 5‑pin screw-terminal block for the DeviceNet connection (CAN_H, CAN_L, Drain/Shield, +24 VDC, 0 VDC) and fits as a 1-slot, standard 1756 module. Baud rates are software-selectable among 125 Kbps, 250 Kbps and 500 Kbps, with corresponding maximum network lengths of up to 500 m, 250 m and 100 m respectively. The module’s typical backplane power draw is about 400 mA at 5.1 V, with no required backplane current at 24 V, and it is designed for 0 °C to 60 °C environments (IP20 when mounted in an enclosure). Supported configuration tools include RSNetWorx for DeviceNet and Studio 5000/RSLogix 5000 with Add‑On Profiles for Generic Device support. Firmware Revision 3.010 is current for the 1756‑DNB, as noted in Rockwell release documentation. The 1756-DNB is UL Listed, cULus, CE and ODVA‑conformant, and it supports a variety of DeviceNet devices such as sensors, actuators, and other I/O devices in industrial automation, making it a common choice for integrating DeviceNet devices with ControlLogix systems.
