Description:

The Allen-Bradley 1756-DNB DeviceNet Network Interface Module is a single-port DeviceNet scanner/master for Rockwell Automation's ControlLogix family, designed to bridge a DeviceNet network to a Logix controller within a 1756 chassis. It provides one open-style DeviceNet port (5- or 10-pin) for connecting DeviceNet devices such as sensors and actuators, and supports DeviceNet data rates of 125, 250, and 500 kbps, with network reach varying by speed (roughly up to several hundred meters at 125 kbps, up to 250 meters at 250 kbps, and up to about 100 meters at 500 kbps). The module draws power from the backplane, with backplane current up to 850 mA at 5.1 V DC and a small additional draw on the 24 V rail, while the DeviceNet portion can supply up to about 60 mA for connected devices. Electrical isolation between the DeviceNet network and the controller is provided, rated around 30 V continuous, and the unit uses an open-style enclosure with no integrated enclosure. As the DeviceNet master, the 1756-DNB handles device configuration, scanning of slaves, and data exchange with the ControlLogix controller, typically coordinating network setup and monitoring via Rockwell Automation tools such as RSNetWorx. Typical applications include integrating DeviceNet sensors and actuators into ControlLogix-based automation systems in manufacturing, packaging, and material-handling environments, enabling reliable data exchange and control between DeviceNet devices and the Logix controller. The module is designed for use within the ControlLogix ecosystem and is supported by Rockwell Automation through official product pages and documentation.
