Allen-Bradley 1756-ENBT Ethernet IP Communications Module
Allen-Bradley 1756-ENBT Ethernet IP Communications Module
Description:
Allen-Bradley 1756-ENBT Ethernet/IP Communications Module is a ControlLogix Ethernet/IP interface that slides into a backplane to provide the chassis with Ethernet connectivity for CIP communications. It supports 10/100 Mbps Ethernet (twisted-pair) and handles up to 64 TCP connections and 128 CIP connections, enabling a flexible mix of explicit and implicit messaging to control I/O and exchange data across the network. The module is designed for installation in a ControlLogix chassis in any slot, offering a dedicated Ethernet interface for backplane communications. Electrical and environmental specs include a 700 mA draw at 5.1 V (and 3 mA at 24 V) with roughly 3.7 W dissipation, insulation voltage of 30 V, an open enclosure, and a 1-slot width footprint suitable for standard chassis layouts; operating temperature ranges from 0 to 60 C (32–140 F). It supports configurable Ethernet network settings, including rate and duplex, to align with network requirements. Common applications include integrating ControlLogix systems with enterprise networks, SCADA or HMI systems, and machine-to-machine data exchange, enabling both explicit messaging to devices and CIP-based I/O communications across EtherNet/IP networks. In RSLogix/Studio 5000 environments, the ENBT functions as the Ethernet/IP interface that can operate as a scanner or bridge, forming a core part of the factory floor data path and enabling reliable, plant-wide Ethernet communications for ControlLogix control systems.
