Allen-Bradley 1756-HSC High Speed Counter Module
Allen-Bradley 1756-HSC High Speed Counter Module
Description:
The Allen-Bradley 1756-HSC High Speed Counter Module is a two-channel ControlLogix I/O card that delivers hardware-based pulse counting with four outputs wired through a 36-pin removable terminal block, designed to sit in a ControlLogix chassis and communicate counts with minimal CPU involvement. Each channel exposes three field inputs—A and B for quadrature counting and Z as a gate or reset—allowing edge counting and gated counting, with two outputs per channel to drive discrete signals or trigger PLC events, and it supports both Count and Frequency modes for flexible totalization or rate measurement. Configured in Studio 5,000 Logix Designer, the 1756-HSC integrates with the Controller's backplane, supports two independent counters with two outputs per counter, and is commonly used for motor encoder feedback, high-speed line counting on conveyors, and other fast-pulse applications in automation systems.
