Allen-Bradley 1756-IB16S 16-Channel Safety Input Module

Allen-Bradley 1756-IB16S is a 16-channel, sinking safety input module designed for ControlLogix/GuardLogix safety networks. It provides 16 DC safety inputs (10–30 V DC) through a 36‑pin terminal block and is intended to monitor safety devices such as emergency stops, safety interlocks, and light curtains in safety-critical applications. Each channel draws about 2.4–2.8 mA at 10–32 V DC, with an off‑state current up to 1.5 mA, and the input path to the backplane introduces a maximum delay of 6 ms, supporting timely safety responses. The module also supports diagnostic testing via a Safety Pulse Test to help verify circuits for shorts to 24 V DC. As a ControlLogix safety I/O option, it integrates with existing backplanes and requires the appropriate Removable Terminal Block for field wiring, enabling centralized monitoring of safety inputs across suitable GuardLogix or ControlLogix configurations. Common applications include monitoring E‑stop circuits, safety interlocks, and other 24 V DC safety devices within machine guarding schemes, delivering 16 dedicated safety channels in a compact 16‑DI package.
