Allen-Bradley 1756-IB16S 16-Point Safety Input Module

The Allen-Bradley 1756-IB16S is a ControlLogix 16-point safety input module that provides 16 sinking DC inputs for safety‑rated circuits at a 10–30 VDC input range, wired through a 36‑pin terminal block. It supports field power in 18–32 V DC SELV/PELV with per‑channel input current up to 2.5 mA and a total backplane power draw of 1.43 W, with module dissipation around 6 W; wiring uses 22–14 AWG copper (0.33–2.1 mm2), solid or stranded, on two field power ports, and it uses a removable 1756-TBCHS terminal housing. The module provides 60 V continuous isolation between channels and the backplane, enabling safe operation in safety applications. Rockwell notes that the 1756-IB16S can form SIL CL3 / PLe / Cat 4 subsystems when connected to appropriate safety devices (single- or dual-channel wired inputs), making it suitable for safety interlocks, emergency stops, and GuardLogix/ControlLogix safety I/O configurations.
