Allen-Bradley 1756-IF6I Isolated Analog Input Module
Allen-Bradley 1756-IF6I Isolated Analog Input Module
Description:
The Allen-Bradley 1756-IF6I is a six-channel isolated analog input module for Rockwell Automation's ControlLogix platform. It accepts voltage or current inputs on six individually isolated channels, wired through a 20-pin, backplane-compatible interface. Each channel is isolated from the backplane and from every other channel to help prevent ground loops and cross-channel interference. Isolation is rated 250 V continuous between input channels and the backplane, with routine-tested protection up to 1350 V AC for 2 seconds across channel-to-channel paths. The 1756-IF6I is intended for ControlLogix I/O backplanes and provides six input points for sensing signals from sensors and transducers in industrial environments. In line with Rockwell's 1756 I/O family, the module's power dissipation can reach up to about 5.1 W under typical conditions at 60 C, reflecting the integrated isolation circuitry. Note that Rockwell Automation discontinued the ControlLogix 6-point isolated analog input family, including the 1756-IF6I, as of March 31, 2017, though many units remain in use in legacy installations. Typical applications include acquiring process-variable signals such as 4–20 mA current loops or small-voltage transducers, where channel isolation improves measurement accuracy and reduces the impact of noise or faults on adjacent channels.
