Allen-Bradley 1756-IM16I 16-Point Input Module
Allen-Bradley 1756-IM16I 16-Point Input Module
Description:
The Allen-Bradley 1756-IM16I is a ControlLogix 16-point input module designed for AC digital signals, providing isolated inputs rated for 159–265 VAC, 47–63 Hz, and a compact backplane footprint that plugs into standard 1756 chassis. Each of the 16 channels is individually isolated from the backplane and from one another to minimize cross-channel interference, and field wiring is delivered through a 36-pin terminal block compatible with the 1756-TBCH family for robust, industrial-grade connections, with electronic, software-configurable module keying to ensure correct installation. The module’s electrical characteristics support direct interfacing with common AC sensors and relays, offering an input impedance around 20.38 kΩ at the high end and an on-state current range from 5 mA to 13 mA per channel, with a continuous isolation rating of 250 V between inputs and the backplane. Power and installation considerations include roughly 0.58 W total backplane power draw, a maximum dissipation of about 5.8 W at elevated temperatures, and software-configurable module keying to ensure safe replacement and correct orientation within live ControlLogix environments, making it a straightforward choice for expanding AC input capability in industrial automation systems.
