Allen-Bradley 1756-IN16 Digital Input IO Module
Allen-Bradley 1756-IN16 Digital Input IO Module
Description:
The Allen-Bradley 1756-IN16 is a 16‑channel digital input module for ControlLogix backplanes that accepts 10–30 V AC (nominal 24 V AC) inputs and presents them to the controller as binary signals, arranged as two groups of eight inputs each. Each group shares a common reference, and there is no isolation between individual group inputs, though the input groups are isolated from the backplane (rated 250 V continuous). The module draws 135 mA from the 5.1 V backplane and about 2 mA from the 24 V supply, with a total backplane power of 0.56 W and a maximum dissipation of 5.1 W at 60 °C (17.39 BTU/hr). It supports a hardware delay of up to 10 ms plus a user‑selected input filter (0, 1, or 2 ms for Off‑to‑On; 9 or 18 ms for On‑to‑Off) and a cyclic update time spanning roughly 200 µs to 750 ms. For wiring, use a removable terminal block housing (1756‑TBNH or 1756‑TBSH) and 0.33–2.1 mm² (22–14 AWG) copper wire. Compatible with the ControlLogix 1756 backplane, the 1756‑IN16 is typically used to monitor field devices such as pushbuttons, limit switches, and proximity sensors in industrial automation, safety circuits, and machine control where robust 24 V AC digital inputs are required.
