Allen-Bradley 1756-L72S GuardLogix Controller
Allen-Bradley 1756-L72S GuardLogix Controller
Description:
The Allen-Bradley 1756-L72S GuardLogix Controller is a primary GuardLogix 5570-series processor (Logix5572S) designed for integrated safety and standard control in complex machines. It combines 4 MB of standard memory for user programs with 2 MB of safety memory for safety logic, enabling both conventional control tasks and safety routines on a single platform. Built to handle large-scale automation, it supports up to 128,000 I/O points, including digital I/O and up to 4,000 analog I/O, making it suitable for expansive manufacturing lines and packaging systems where safety-critical logic and fast response are essential. A safety partner module (1756-L7SP) must be installed in the adjacent slot to achieve SIL 3/PLe operation, per GuardLogix architecture guidelines. The controller uses an open-style enclosure and includes a built-in USB port, with Energy Storage Module (ESM) support for non-volatile memory backup; typical power draw is around 2.5 W (5 VDC at ~800 mA) with associated low-power rails. Common applications include safety-rated machine control for conveyors, material handling, robotics-integrated lines, and other automated processes requiring both high-throughput control and integrated safety logic.
