Allen-Bradley 1756-OA16 16-Channel AC Output Module

The Allen-Bradley 1756-OA16 is a ControlLogix 16-channel AC digital output module that switches 74–265 VAC loads at up to 0.5 A per channel, enabling direct control of relays, contactors, and other AC devices from a ControlLogix backplane. Outputs are organized in two eight-point groups with mechanical fuse protection on each group, and the standard OA16 uses a 20-pin wiring base (the OA16I variant provides 74–265 VAC isolated outputs on a 36-pin connector). The module operates on 74–265 VAC with a 47–63 Hz range and features typical delay times of 9.3 ms for OFF-to-ON and 11 ms for ON-to-OFF at 60 Hz (and the same range of times at 50 Hz). Internal consumption is modest, drawing about 400 mA from the 5.1 V rail and 2 mA from a 24 V supply, which helps with power budgeting in the rack. Designed for use within Rockwell Automation’s ControlLogix ecosystem, the OA16 provides a straightforward path to scalable AC output control across multiple I/O points while maintaining compatibility with 1756-series backplanes and chassis.
