Allen-Bradley 842E-CM-SIP12BA Absolute Encoder
Allen-Bradley 842E-CM-SIP12BA Absolute Encoder
Description:
Allen-Bradley 842E-CM-SIP12BA is an EtherNet/IP absolute encoder with CIP Motion feedback designed for single-turn (1-turn) position sensing on automation axes. As part of the 842E-CM Integrated Motion on EtherNet/IP family, it delivers true absolute position within a single revolution, providing 262,144 counts per turn (18-bit resolution) for precise feedback. The unit features a hollow shaft with a 15 mm bore and uses an M12 connector for rugged industrial connectivity. It is intended to interface with CIP Motion–capable controllers, transmitting position data over EtherNet/IP to support coordinated multi-axis motion and reliable axis homing in automated machinery. Typical applications include packaging lines, material-handling systems, and other manufacturing environments that require stable, networked absolute feedback on a single-turn axis. Since the encoder is single-turn, the controlling device must track multi-turn position if travel exceeds one revolution, while benefiting from Rockwell’s integrated motion approach on EtherNet/IP for streamlined configuration.
