TRI-TRONICS MIV-18VJ12 is a compact 18 mm threaded photoelectric sensor with an infrared 880 nm light source, delivering reliable short-range proximity detection up to 5 in (127 mm) in industrial environments. As part of the MINI-EYE series, it features an 18 mm threaded cylindrical housing, a M12 connector (J12 configuration), and a 10–30 VDC supply with an NPN transistor output rated to 100 mA; its sensing mode is short-range proximity (convergent). The device has a fast 600 µs response time and draws about 30 mA (excluding load), with built-in reverse polarity and continuous short-circuit protection for dependable operation. Its enclosure is rated IP66 and NEMA 4X, and it operates from -40°C to +70°C, making it suitable for washdown environments and demanding factory floors. Common applications include packaging equipment, bottling lines, food processing systems, warehouse conveyors, and general manufacturing automation for part positioning, counting, and conveyor monitoring.
