Anybus AB7072-B Ethernet IP and Modbus-TCP Communicator
Anybus AB7072-B Ethernet IP and Modbus-TCP Communicator
Description:
The AB7072-B Anybus Communicator is a two-port gateway that bridges a serial Modbus master to EtherNet/IP and Modbus-TCP networks, enabling seamless data exchange between legacy Modbus devices and modern industrial Ethernet. It functions as both an EtherNet/IP server for I/O messaging and a Modbus-TCP server for TCP clients, while the serial side handles Modbus RTU traffic to feed the network-facing data maps. An available EDS file supports easy Rockwell Automation integration, and the device ships with a built-in web server for configuration plus optional FTP and Telnet services and an email client for alerts. With two Ethernet ports, it can be used to segment networks or daisy-chain connections without a separate switch, supporting flexible deployment in industrial environments. Typical use cases include connecting legacy Modbus RTU devices to Ethernet/IP controllers, or enabling Modbus TCP devices to communicate with EtherNet/IP-based PLCs and SCADA systems. The AB7072-B is designed to provide reliable, protocol-level translation without modifying the host equipment, delivering data in mapped input/output areas that align with common Modbus registers and Ethernet/IP I/O structures.
