Appleton UNILETS EYS Series Conduit Sealing Fitting, 1/2 in, is a dust-ignitionproof, explosion-proof sealing device designed to join two enclosures on IMC or threaded rigid metallic conduit and prevent the passage of gases, vapors or flames between sections. For the 1/2 in size, the common variant is a 25% fill vertical sealing fitting (model EYS1) with a tapered FNPT connection, built from Grayloy-iron and finished with a triple-coat coating for corrosion resistance, and it measures roughly 3.28 inches long and 1.25 inches wide. The sealing fitting is intended for use in Class I, Division 1 and 2 locations where two enclosures are connected by 36 inches or less of conduit, requiring the seal to be located within 18 inches of either enclosure. Orientation can vary by model—some EYS options support vertical installation only, while others permit horizontal or both orientations—making it adaptable to compact or irregular layouts in hazardous environments.
