The Automation 42SRF-6005 Photoelectric Sensor, part of the PHOTOSWITCH 6000 Series, is a compact fiber-optic photoelectric sensor that uses infrared light delivered through a glass fiber optic element to detect targets with reliability in tight spaces. It accepts a wide supply of 20–264V AC/DC at 50–60 Hz and consumes about 1.2 VA, making it suitable for integration with a broad range of industrial controllers. The sensing distance is determined by the connected fiber optic lead, and Rockwell offers variants including a standard 3 m cable version and a 42SRF-6005-QD version with a 4-pin micro QD connector. This fiber-coupled design enables sensing through obstructed or dusty environments and is compatible with standard Rockwell Automation sensing equipment. Common applications include materials handling on conveyors, packaging lines, and general automation tasks where compact form factor and flexible fiber-optic sensing are advantageous.
