Automation Direct D4-EX Explosion-Proof Photoelectric Sensor

The Automation Direct D4-EX is a DirectLOGIC expansion unit for DL405 controllers, providing local expansion I/O to extend a PLC’s digital input/output capability near field devices. This expansion module supports both AC and DC power variants: AC models accept 85–132 VAC (110 range) or 170–264 VAC (220 range), while the DC variants—D4-EXDC (20–29 VDC, 24 VDC nominal) and D4-EXDC-2 (90–146 VDC)—are designed for DC installations. Inrush current and power ratings vary by variant (AC up to 20 A inrush and up to 50 VA; DC variants up to 10 A or 20 A inrush with max power of 38 W or 30 W, respectively). The base D4-EX unit weighs about 22.7 oz (644 g); the DC variants weigh roughly 23.3 oz (660 g). A 24 VDC auxiliary power supply option (20–28 VDC at up to 0.4 A, ripple > 1 V p-p) can accompany D4-EX installations to support DC-powered auxiliary circuits.
