AutomationDirect SS2-0P-4A is a tubular, diffuse photoelectric sensor (18 mm diameter, 65 mm long) with a 100 mm sensing range for non-contact object detection via diffuse reflection. It operates on 10–30 VDC and uses a 4-wire pigtail (22 AWG) with a PNP output, offering up to 250 Hz switching frequency. The sensor uses infrared light emission and provides a selectable light-on or dark-on mode, allowing setups to optimize detection against different backgrounds. Its tubular, threaded housing in a plastic IP67 enclosure supports mounting in tight spaces and exposure to dust or splashes, while the 2 m cable exit provides flexible wiring options. Applications include presence or edge detection on conveyors, packaging lines, or other compact automation tasks where diffuse sensing is appropriate for reliably discerning part presence, orientation, or surface features.
