Autonics PRFT18-5DO-V Inductive Proximity Sensor

Autonics PRFT18-5DO-V is a full-metal cylindrical inductive proximity sensor (M18) with a 5 mm sensing distance, designed to detect ferrous targets in demanding industrial environments. It operates from a 12-24 VDC supply (10-30 VDC range) and provides a two-wire normally open output via an oil-resistant gray PVC cable, typically 2 m long. Constructed with a PTFE-coated brass body, PTFE-coated iron washers, and a PTFE sensing face, the device is rated IP67 for protection against dust and water ingress and is specified for ambient temperatures from -25°C to 70°C. The sensor features an LED indicator, a maximum leakage current of 0.6 mA, an output current range of 2–100 mA, and built-in protection circuits for surge, short-circuit/overcurrent, and reverse polarity; dielectric strength between the sensor body and case is 1,500 VAC, and insulation resistance exceeds 50 MΩ at 500 VDC. The standard sensing target is 18×18×1 mm iron, with a nominal hysteresis up to 10% of the sensing distance, and a 500 Hz response frequency, making it suitable for real-time metal detection in automated systems, packing lines, and material handling where compact M18 sensors are required.
