B&B Electronics 9POP4 RS-232 Isolator

The B&B Electronics 9POP4 RS-232 Optical Isolator is a four-channel, 9-pin RS-232 optical isolator that sits between a DTE device and a DCE device to protect equipment from lightning surges, ground loops, and high-voltage transients. It provides 2.5 kV RMS isolation between the two sides and supports RS-232 TD, RD, RTS and CTS at up to 230.4 kbps. The unit is powered from an external 12 VDC supply via a 2.5 mm power connector, with a typical power consumption of 731 mW. Connections to the DTE device are made through a DB9 female connector and connections to the DCE device through a DB9 male connector. Its compact plastic enclosure measures 10.4 x 4.3 x 2.0 cm (4.1 x 1.7 x 0.86 in), is rated IP30, and weighs about 54.4 g. The 9POP4 carries an MTBF of 262,084 hours and provides ESD immunity of 15 kV air discharge and 8 kV contact.
