Balluff BES 516-383-EO-C-03 Inductive Proximity Sensor

Balluff BES 516-383-EO-C-03 is a compact cylindrical inductive proximity sensor (M8 thread) with a stainless-steel housing measuring Ø8 x 45 mm and non-flush installation. It operates on a 10–30 V DC supply and provides a PNP normally open output rated for up to 200 mA, with a 3 m PVC cable (3.00 mm diameter) for flexible mounting in tight spaces. The sensing face is PBT, and the device detects metal targets at a nominal sensing distance Sn of 2.5 mm (assured distance Sa of 2 mm, real switching distance sr 2.5 mm) with a hysteresis of up to 15% of Sr. It supports a switching frequency up to 5,000 Hz and includes protection against reverse polarity and short circuits, with an insulation voltage Ui of 250 V AC. The unit carries an IP68 enclosure rating and is designed for harsh industrial environments, operating from -40 to 85 C. Ideal applications include inline position sensing on conveyors, robotic pick-and-place systems, and other automation tasks where a small, rugged metal-detection sensor is required in constrained spaces.
