Balluff BOS 18KW-NA-1QC-S4-C Photoelectric Sensor

Balluff BOS 18KW-NA-1QC-S4-C is a cylindrical retroreflective photoelectric sensor (M18, Ø18 x 93.5 mm) that detects reflective targets up to 3,000 mm away with a red 660 nm beam and two digital transistor outputs that can be wired as NO or NC. It runs on 10–30 V DC (nominally 24 V) with a current draw of about 100 mA, includes reverse-polarity protection and short-circuit protection, and has a voltage drop under 2 V with a no-load current below 35 mA. The housing is made of PBT with a PMMA sensing face, is rated IP67, and weighs about 25 g; it mounts via the S4 M12 4-pin connector and features an adjustable sensitivity potentiometer (270°). In addition to its Sn (rated operating distance) of 3,000 mm, it offers Sa (measured operating distance) between 100 and 2,500 mm and operates over a wide ambient range of -25 to +55°C. Commonly applied in packaging lines, conveyors, and machine guarding where retroreflective sensing is preferred, this Balluff sensor can be set for light-on or dark-on switching to suit different target reflectivity and background conditions.
