Balluff BOS0178 Diffuse Sensor With Background Suppression

Balluff BOS0178 (BOS 23K-PU-RH10-S4) is a compact diffuse photoelectric sensor with background suppression designed to reliably detect small parts against cluttered backgrounds. The device uses a red-light LED and a fixed optical axis for consistent sensing in tight spaces, with a stated diffuse-mode range of 1 to 30 mm. It operates from 10 to 30 V DC and comes in an ABS housing with a cable connection that uses an M8x1 male, 3-pin, 0.20 m PVC lead. The BOS0178 family is noted for a small form factor and effective background suppression, enabling part detection on conveyors and packaging lines where surface color, reflectivity, or nearby backgrounds could otherwise cause false triggers.
