Banner Engineering 49468 SI-QS90E Safety Interlock

The Banner Engineering SI-QS90E safety interlock body (part 49468) is a compact plastic interlock housing designed for guarding machine access points. It houses two normally closed safety contacts in a rugged thermoplastic enclosure sized 90 x 52 x 33 mm and rated IP65 (IP67 with a screwed wiring-chamber door). The operating temperature range is -30 to 80 °C, and the assembly carries Safety Category 4, PL e and SIL CL 3 ratings. As part of Banner’s SI-QS75/90 flat-pack family, the SI-QS90E offers rotating head and top- or side-engagement, enabling eight actuator positions, with four standard actuators and an optional high-extraction-force actuator. Mechanically coded actuators use two independent operating elements to minimize tampering or defeat, and two safety switches are typically used for each interlock guard to achieve reliable, dual-channel protection per ISO 13849-1. The device uses a wiring chamber for easy electrical connections and is designed to operate with complementary safety components to stop machinery when a guarded access is opened. Typical applications include guarding on conveyors, presses, robotics cells, and packaging lines where a secure, fail-safe interlock is required.
